Forum: Financial literacy crucial to affordable housing
Financial literacy is the ability to manage household finances to achieve goals, making prudent decisions over the long term. According to polls by AARP, bankrate.com and the Jumpstart Coalition, few of us, from teens to seniors, are as money-savvy as we need to be in this complex and uncertain economy. With better understanding and application of financial skills relating to borrowing and saving, we might have been spared the worst of the ongoing foreclosure and credit crises.

Forum: Good education should include financial literacy
Know any teenagers who can balance a checkbook? Can they do their own taxes? Read and understand their credit score? Choose an insurance company? If they can't do any of these things, is it their fault?
